Open Conversation for Intermediate-Upper Level Students
This class can be catered especially to the student's needs or goals. A typical suggestion of skills to focus on are as follows.
Speaking and Listening
Learn and use internationally-used English language greetings and introductions.
Explain, in English, where you are from.
Discuss, in English, travel plans and different parts of the world.
Make plans with English speakers for a party, get-together or an outing of some kind.
Discuss, in English, food, fashion, your likes and dislikes and your everyday routine.
Practice the scenarios in the "Travel English Class"
Practice phone calls in English.
Listen to English language radio broadcasts and TV shows.
Explain current events and News stories.
Describe things you see, people, places, feelings and experiences.
Pretend you are a Tour Guide and go for a outside walk together, and explain what you see.
Reading and Writing
Write personal emails in English to your friends and family.
Filling out forms: Immigration, travel, Personal Information, Health Club membership, etc.
Participate on the school's website Chat Room, or Join Facebook and "Friend" other students and the teacher, using English only.
Vocabulary
We will teach you methods to "learn" new words and remember them. Not memorize for a test and forget after a few days. We teach the use of "word-association", mnemonics, and other clever ways to retain your vocabulary.
